I really dislike liars. Especially when it comes to nutrition labels.
I have ranted about this before, and here it is again, this time from the folks at Healthy Choice.
This SINGLE SERVING bowl of cheese tortellini soup is pimped on its front label as offering 3/4 of a cup of veggies and only 90 calories PER SERVING.
Twirl around the microwavable bowl of merely average chunky tomato soup containing eight nondescript dumplings, and you find that this wee bowl actually contains TWO SERVINGS.
So, while you win on the veggie front (a cup and a half is halfway to a day’s goal) you lose on the calorie front if you thought you were getting a bowl of soup for under 100 calories.
Excuse me while I double everything else on the label…OK, 180 calories, 2 grams of fat, and 32 grams of carbs is still a bargain, but almost 800 mg of sodium (more than 30 percent of the daily recommended intake) is fairly high for such a small portion.
And why are they making me do MATH! That does not burn any calories and it makes me feel very stabby toward some corporate jackass who is trying to mind-fuck me into buying this nearly tasteless soup because, ooh, I can have lunch for under 100 calories.
Argh. Liars.
Not buying it, Healthy Choice. Not again, anway.
