We all make mistakes.
Some of mine have been epic, but this is not the time or the space to open my baggage, except when it comes to lunch choices. And today’s selection? A culinary misstep.
Lean Cuisine Deep Dish Spinach and Mushroom Pizza –with a four cheese blend and a creamy Alfredo sauce — was something I bought on impulse because I love pizza and I especially love mushrooms.
Spinach on pizza is OK, but I prefer my spinach fresh in a salad and not looking like the mush that Popeye threw down his gullet from a can.
This little pie was seriously lacking in ‘shrooms and seriously over-indulged in cartoon-like spinach.
Although the cover photo on the box shows about a dozen mushrooms, I found exactly three slices on mine. The spinach was dotted sporadically over the top of the pizza in oozing green gobs, like Oscar the Grouch shit shed all over it.
The sauce was flavorless and slimy.
I was very hungry, and still could not finish this mess.
This is totally not worth 340 calories and 7 grams of fat. Marketing this piece of crap as pizza was a mistake.

I have an excellent recipe at home from a heart healthy cookbook for a pizza PIE with whole wheat hand make crust on top and bottom filled with spinach and mozzarella cheese. On top of the crust, pizza sauce and mushrooms. REALLY good!
That does sound good, Amanda. If you are so inclined, you could post the recipe, either here or on Plate Up over at roanoke.com.
Normally these frozen diet pizzas are a safe bet. They are not like having a slice at New York Pizza in Vinton, but they don’t suck. This one? Suuuuuucked.
Sorry – been out sick. Will search for it and send it along.
