Tomorrow we are expecting the first big snow storm here in years. We could get as much as a foot of fresh powder. I live in a tiny corner of a mostly Southern state and we don’t get a lot of wintery weather. So this is big news.
Pretty much anywhere in the South, if the weather forecast predicts a chance of flurries, people step outside of their right minds and feel compelled to buy every staple at the grocery store. Seriously. If the radar indicates that we *might* have as little as a half inch of accumulation, schools close and there is a run on bread/milk/Pop Tarts at Kroger.
Not that I have any right to feel all smug and superior (although I often do) because my Midwestern-raised ass *loathes* driving in snow.
So I will patiently wait in the checkout line, reading the latest issue of “People” with my fellow Southern snow cowards, bascart full of eggs, cereal, and all the key ingredients for homemade soups and chocolate chip cookies, so I can be prepared for a lack of access to easy shopping for 12 or so hours.
What? You have to lay in supplies like you’re hunkering down for the winter at the Overlook Hotel if you truly want to enjoy an epic weather event, even if you know that the plows will have it all cleaned off within ours of the precipitation system moving out of the area.
So I am looking forward to our temporary snow bounding. There is nothing I like better than being snug as the bug in the proverbial rug in my house, cupboards and fridge packed with delicious food and beverage, and not having anywhere to go.
And this big old storm will start late on Friday afternoon and rage on through Saturday. Suuuuu-WEET. We don’t have to worry about work. We have two fireplaces, a big screen TV, a stack of DVDs, a fully loaded Kindle and Internet access.
All I can say is let it snow, baby. Let it snow.

I live in a small town in England and whilst the rest of the Country is pretty much covered we have no snow at all…..much to the disappointment of my 6 year old!!! I'm sure my lilly-white ass must've lived somewhere warm in a previous life 'cos I absolutely hate the cold!!!!! Enjoy your snow-in!!!
It's really good so far! Thanks Emma. Hope the snow finds it's way to you soon. You could have some of ours. We've got a bunch. I'd tell you how much if I could convert feet to meters but I'm American (we're terrible at conversions) and a wee bit drunk so that's not happening tonight.
Thanks for reading my blog. Please come back cause I like you.
I laugh because I live up North and the first time it snows, people all forget to drive. Then, everyone barrels around like it's nothing. Ha.
