I know losing weight is actually a very simple formula: burn more calories than you consume.
Simple. Forget the carbs, the fat, the fiber, whatever. If the movement of your ass is greater than the sum total of grub you stuff in your mouth, you will lose weight.
I know this. For crying out freakin’ loud, everyone knows this. Hell, Oprah told us this.
And if O says so, it is so. Amen.
So last week, when my hubby and I were on our romantic trip to the Pacific Northwest, we walked miles and miles on the beach, we hiked up volcanoes and waterfalls, and we had sexy time like horny rabbits in heat.
But we also ate like Olympic swimmers. I don’t think the math worked out in our favor.
So this week I have the stress of going back to work that has piled up for a week and hosting my book club meeting tomorrow night, and I am trying so hard to get back to The Plan. And the battle, I know, is all in my head.
Last week, I was face first in a 1,000-calorie bowl of bread pudding, sucking it down with reckless abandon and making “nom, nom, nom” noises like an LOLcat, and this week I worry when I eat a brownie the size of Advil tablet.
It’s a total mind fuck, for sure.
Tonight I made a very delicious dessert to serve to my book club tomorrow night. The bowl I made the custard in? Well, let’s just say you’d never know it was manufactured by Pyrex after I got done licking that bastard.
And the picture above? Homemade almond pound cake. Yeah, that bitch will melt in your mouth, for sure.
And I feel guilty. Like I cheated myself. Fuckity, fuck, fuck, fuck!

Except I can't run (bad knee) so I will have to walk. And I can only handle one dog on a walk at a time.
